My Meter is built with a simple principle: your data is yours. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All processing happens entirely on your device.
1 Who we are
My Meter is an iOS app developed and maintained by Erwin Schleier. If you have any questions about this privacy policy, you can contact us at info@erwin-schleier.com.
2 What data the app accesses
Location (GPS)
The app accesses your device's GPS to calculate walking distance using the Haversine formula. Background location access is used to continue measuring when the app is not in the foreground. Location data is processed in real time and is never written to any remote server or sent anywhere outside your device.
Motion & Pedometer (step sensor)
The app accesses the device's built-in step sensor as a secondary distance source. This is used as a fallback when GPS signal is weak or unavailable, and to filter out stationary noise. Motion data is processed entirely on-device.
Measurement history (local storage)
Completed measurements (distance, date, duration) are stored locally on your device using SQLite. This data is never synced to a cloud service. You can delete your history at any time from within the app.
3 What data is NOT collected
- No personal identifiers (name, email, device ID)
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No crash reporting sent externally
- No advertising identifiers
- No third-party SDKs with data collection
4 Data sharing
We do not share any data with third parties. There are no advertising partners, analytics providers, or cloud services involved. The only external data flow is the optional CSV export you initiate yourself — this is a file saved to your device or shared via iOS's standard share sheet, fully under your control.
5 Data retention
Live GPS and motion data is processed in memory only and is not persisted after a measurement ends. Completed measurements are stored locally until you delete them. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
6 Your rights
Since no data is transmitted outside your device, there is no server-side data to request or delete. You have full control:
- Delete your measurement history at any time from within the app
- Revoke location permissions at any time in iOS Settings
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data

7 Children's privacy
My Meter does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. As no data is collected at all, there is no age restriction on use.
8 Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
